DOBRZE II (THE GAME) 2007 C++, Quake 3, Python, Blender, Photoshop. Programming: Daniel van Gils "… Another popular genre of PC game is Role Playing. Since not enough women are present, and also because players get more attentions and "stuff'" many male RPGers play as female characters. But in the process they also learn how it feels to be "an object of the male gaze", a piece of female flesh, warding off constant come-ons and lewd comments about breasts, while in the midst of casting a complicated spell." (A.M. Schleiner, " PC Games and not console Games are healthy for girls and women") The game, Based on the Quake engine, is a graphical re-interpretation of a conversation that took place between the artist and her three friends: Karolina, Wanda and Emzeta. The three characters become avatars in the game itself. They are placed in a labyrinth of invisible walls, which become denoted once a text image is placed on them. A linguistic space becomes an architectural spaces. This game is played with a single joystick. When pressed it fires text images, drawing patterns of sentences in space and playing off corresponding speech samples. Programming Danie van Gils |
